CAIRO: Al Ahly SC qualified to the CAF Champions League group stage Wednesday with a 3-2 aggregate victory over the Tanzanian Young Africans in round of 16 of the African Champions League.

The Red Devils defeated Young Africans 2-1 in the 2nd leg of African Champions League round of 16 held Wednesday at Alexandria’s Borg Al Arab Stadium. The eight-time title-holders achieved a 1-1 draw in the first leg held in Tanzania earlier this month.

Al Ahly’s Hossam Ghaly opened the scoring in the second half before Young Africans Donald Ngoma scored an equalizer in the 67th minute.

A last-minute header by Abdallah al Said gave Al Ahly a 2-1 win over Young Africans.

On Tuesday, Cairo giants Zamalek SC qualified to the CAF Champions League group stage with a 3-1 aggregate victory over Algeria’s Mouloudia Olympique de Béjaïa in round of 16 of the same championship.

Al Ahly and Zamalek are among eight teams qualified to the 2016 CAF Champions League group stage. A draw will be held in CAF headquarters in Cairo to divide the eight qualified teams into two groups.
