CAIRO: The Tourism Ministry plans to launch a multilingual website in a bid to boost and promote Egypt’s ailing tourism sector, Minister Yehia Rashid announced.
In an interview with Al Nahar TV on Wednesday, Rashid said the website will support 14 languages and will be launched within a month. It will also include a project of enhancing search engine and using social media, he added.
The Egyptian Tourism Ministry already has a website; www.egypt.travel.com, managed by the country’s Tourism Promotion Authority.
The industry was severely affected by the crash of a Russian plane in the Sinai late October, that killed all 224 passengers on board. During the past few months, former Tourism Minister Hisham Zaazou launched several promotion campaigns to restore the country’s second most important source of hard currency.
