The Supreme Council of Journalism will hold its second meeting under its new structure on Tuesday with no preset task list, according to Dr. Diaa Rashwan, a member of the council and chairman of the Journalists Syndicate.
The meeting will be held in the offices of Al-Akhbar newspaper.
In a statement to Youm7, Rashwan announced an expected meeting between the Journalists Syndicate council and the Supreme Council of Journalism to present the former’s point of view regarding measures of choosing the editors-in-chief of national newspapers.
Following the presidential declaration of the council’s structure, the council held its first meeting last Sunday. Galal Aref was elected as chairman, Salah Essa as first deputy chairman, Dr. Hassan Mekkawy as second deputy chairman, Dr. Usama Ayoub as secretary-general and Talaat el-Mansy as deputy secretary-general.
