CAIRO: A maritime logistics zone will be established in the Mediterranean city of Rosetta at a cost of $1.8 billion, deputy governor of Beheira Nadia Abdou told Youm7 in a Friday report.

The project will be established on 2,000 feddans between Edko and Rosetta, two cities in Beheira, near petroleum companies overlooking the sea.

The companies that came forward to implement the project have submitted a feasibility study supported by maps, and the project is expected to create an economic breakthrough in the city, Abdou said.

The zone will include a sea port, a trade platform and a commercial container station, and a dredging process will be carried out to create shipping lanes leading to the port, she added.
