CAIRO: President Abdel Fatah has reaffirmed his adherence to the independency of the Egyptian Judiciary, praising Judges’ role in maintaining Egypt’s identity.
In his speech at the High Judiciary Court Saturday, Sisi said “I have emphasized, since taking the responsibility (assuming power), on the independency of the Judiciary. Today, I stress again that I and all other officials distance ourselves from any suspicion that could affect Judicial rulings and not to interfere into its affairs.”
Sisi’s speech came during celebration of the Diamond Jubilee of the Court of Cassation, the highest judiciary one-panel court in Egypt before which final trials are being considered.
The High Judiciary Court headquarters houses the Court of Cassation, Court of Appeal, and the General Prosecution.
On Jan. 10, 2015, President Sisi visited the High Court to mark the Egyptian Judiciary Day, during which he affirmed refraining himself from interference into the judiciary affairs.
