CAIRO: The 9th round of the Egyptian-Bahraini joint committee session kicked off in Cairo Saturday and will convene for two days, Assistant Foreign Minister for Arab Affairs Ambassador Tariq Adel was quoted by state news agency MENA.
The meetings were held between the foreign ministers of the two countries. They discussed regional and international issues of mutual interest along with means of boosting bilateral ties in the various fields, said Adel.
The joint committee was established in 1992 following an agreement between the two countries to boost cooperation on the economic and political domains.
The committee was last held in 2009. In early march, Egyptian Foreign Minister Sameh Shoukry met with his Bahraini counterpart Khalifa bin Salman al Khalifa in Manama to prepare for the meetings.
