CAIRO: Twenty-five Egyptians were injured Sunday in a bus crash in Saudi Arabia during a pilgrimage to Mecca (Umrah), the Egyptian consul in Jeddah Adel al-Alfy was quoted by Youm7.

The accident occurred when their bus flipped over en route from Saudi’s southwest city of Bisha to Mecca where the pilgrims were heading to perform Umrah rituals, said Alfy.

The 25 injured were admitted to a nearby hospital, he said, adding that 19 of them were released after they were treated while the other six will be released soon.

Investigations are being carried out by Saudi authorities to identify further details of the accident, according to Alfy.
