CAIRO: Minister of Interior, Magdy Abdel-Gaffar, will inaugurate the new headquarters for the New Cairo-based Police Academy Wednesday, a security official from the ministry told Youm7 Tuesday.
The ministry’s administration sections, which were transported to the new headquarters Jan. 23, has been equipped with the “latest technology,” the official added.
Since the January 25 Revolution against former President Hosni Mubarak’s regime and his police state, the ministry’s old building downtown has been attacked by several protesters over police violations against civilians.
The old building was constructed in 1805 after a security order from Muhammad Ali Pasha. However, its name was changed to the Ministry of Interior in 1857.
