CAIRO: A Nigerian passenger was stopped by Cairo Airport authorities before boarding a flight to Turkey for exceeding the limit of cash allowed to be taken outside the country, Youm7 reported Wednesday.
The passenger was carrying $12,000 and 14,000 Euros, which violates the cash limit of $10,000 or the equivalent of the amount in any other currency.
Similar incidents have taken place at the airport, where customs departments have confiscated illegal drugs, unlicensed artifacts, sex toys and alleged spying cameras.
The extra money seized with passengers is usually subject to confiscation by airport authorities.
Last week, a passenger with undisclosed nationality was reportedly stopped by airport authorities for carrying $17,000.
