CAIRO: Amed forces’ Chief of Staff Mahmoud Hegazy met on Thursday with visiting Chinese military delegation headed by Admiral Sun Jianguo, deputy chief of staff of the People’s Liberation Army, military spokesperson Mohamed Samir was quoted by Youm7.

The two army leaders discussed a number of issues of mutual concern, including military cooperation, training and exchange of expertise between the two armies in addition to ways to boost military cooperation between the two countries.

From his side, Jianguo praised the Egyptian military’s efforts in fighting terrorism, relations between Egypt and China and asserted the importance to enhance partnership and coordination in several fields.

The meeting was attended by high-ranking Egyptian officers.

In May 2015, Egypt’s Defense Minister Sedki Sobhi traveled to China and signed with his Chinese counterpart Chang Wanquan deals for joint manufacturing agreements and new weapons and military equipment.
