CAIRO: Pope Tawadros II of Alexandria and Patriarch of Saint Mark Diocese will lead the Maundy Thursday mass at the Saint Mark’s Coptic Orthodox Cathedral in Alexandria.

The mass, scheduled to be performed on Maundy or the Holy Thursday, commemorates Jesus Christ’s Last Supper with the apostles.

During the Holy Week between Palm Sunday and Easter Sunday, Copts pray daily at church and attend masses on the sufferings of Christ while on the Good Friday, they dress in black to mourn the death of Christ and drink vinegar to remember the vinegar offered to Christ as he died on the cross.
