Police arrest “terrorist cell” in Upper Egypt’s Sohag

CAIRO: Police have arrested a “terrorist cell” in Upper Egypt’s governorate of Sohag Wednesday, state news agency Mena reported.

The four members of the cell were referred to production over spreading extremist thoughts and ideologies.

President Abdel Fatah al Sisi has repeatedly called for a change in the religious discourse and revolution against extremism. He has expressed the conviction that the proclivity to radicalism and conflict is not inherent to Islam.
