CAIRO: A congressional delegation will inspect an EgyptAir flight headed for New York at Cairo Airport Monday, an Egyptian official course told Youm7.
On May 4, the delegation will inspect security procedures at Sharm el-Sheikh Airport, the source at Cairo International Airport said.
Delegations from several countries have visited the main Egyptian airports to inspect safety procedures in the aftermath of the crash of a Russian plane over Sinai Oct. 31.
The U.S. delegation will review security measures from the passengers’ entrance and how they are searched, to the inspection of their luggage and the system of loading bags on to the plane.
Although this is not the first American delegation to inspect an Egyptian airport, the group will be the first congress members to embark on the task.
U.K.-based Control Risks has taken over promoting security standards at Egyptian airports.
In the aftermath of the plane crash in October Russia suspended all flights to Egypt, while the UK halted flights to Sharm el-Sheikh.
