2 planes make emergency landing in Cairo due to bad weather in Alexandria

CAIRO: Two passenger airplanes en route to Alexandria’s Borg al-Arab International Airport made an emergency landing at Cairo International Airport due to bad weather in Alexandria, Youm7 reported.

An Air Leisure flight which departed from Luxor was forced to change its direction to Cairo Airport, an official from Cairo Airport authorities said. EgyptAir flight #181 en route to Alexandria from Jeddah, Saudi Arabia also made a successful landing in Cairo.

A few hours later, the flights resumed their intended routes to Borg al-Arab after the weather cleared.

Sand and dust-filled winds hit Egypt’s northern parts Sunday.
