CAIRO: Pan-African Parliament (PAP) President Roger Nkodo Dang was awarded the Egyptian House of Representatives’ shield during a dinner at the Egyptian embassy in South Africa Monday, Youm7 reported.
Dang met with President Abdel Fatah al-Sisi in Egypt last month and said that he was left with the impression that the country is “returning to its leading role in Africa.”
An Egyptian parliamentary delegation, which is currently in Johannesburg to discuss Egypt’s official return to the PAP after a three-year suspension, was invited to the dinner along with the military and commercial attaches and a representative from the Egyptian church.
Speaker of the Egyptian Parliament Ali Abdel Aal also awarded the shield to Egypt’s ambassador Hatem Bashat in Pretoria.
The delegation will participate in the PAP session until May 13.
