CAIRO: The temperature in Cairo is expected to drop by 10-11 degrees Celsius Wednesday, the official forecast authority announced, according to Youm7.
The announcement came after Cairo witnessed temperatures exceeding 40 °C over the past few days. Waheed Seoudy, the spokesperson of Egypt Meteorological Authority (EMA,) stated that the decline will be witnessed in northern parts of the country, Lower Egypt, Cairo and Suez Canal cities until Thursday.
He noted that these weather anomalies are “normal” at this time of the year, expecting rainfall in most areas Tuesday.
Forecasters said that Tuesday is expected to see hot weather across the country, reaching 40 °C during the day and 25 °C during the night in Cairo.
In Alexandria and Marsa Matrouh cities, along the Mediterranean Sea, the temperature is expected to record highs of 26 °C and 25 °C respectively.
For the tourist cities of Aswan and Luxor, in Upper Egypt, the temperature is expected to reache 45 °C. Temperature is typically high in Upper Egypt areas.
