CAIRO: President Abdel Fattah al Sisi met with Commander-in-Chief of the Armed Forces and Minister of Defense and Military Production Colonel General Sedki Sobhi, Chief of Staff Lieutenant General Mahmoud Hegazy and the Commanders of the main branches of the armed forces on Tuesday.
Sisi was given an account of the progress made in the fight against terrorism in northern Sinai and of the military operations there to wipe it out. The President commended the efforts exerted by the armed forces to counter terrorist and criminal operations in collaboration with the police forces, and lauded their joint efforts and sacrifices to realize security for the Egyptian people. He underscored the importance of maintaining the highest levels of caution, vigilance and combat readiness, given the critical regional situation.
The meeting also addressed regional developments in light of the challenges and threats to the security of the Arab region. President al-Sisi reiterated that Egypt will continue its efforts to realize Arab unity and stand by its brothers through challenges that aim at destabilizing their countries and undermining the capacities of the Arab peoples.
