CAIRO: A total of 11 slaughtered donkeys and three live ones were seized in Cairo before they were supposed to be released to the market, Youm7 reported Thursday.
The donkeys were found by officers from the Veterinary Directorate of Cairo in a bare land in Nasr City next to Wataniya gas station.
The meat will be neutralized by the directorate, while the live donkeys will be sent to the Giza Zoo to be fed to the animals. Acting Cairo Governor Ahmed Taimour requested the police to arrest the people responsible for the act.
In September 2015, two scrap workers were arrested for slaughtering a number of donkeys and selling the meat as beef.
