CAIRO: The state has been obligated to dispense monthly subsidies for people with mental disabilities per a Monday ruling by the Court of Administrative Judiciary in Alexandria.
The subsidies will be separate to the pension of the families and they cannot be frozen or confiscated, Youm7 reported.
The ruling originates from a lawsuit filed by the brother of a mentally disabled woman, Sanaa Mubarak. The court revoked a decision by the undersecretary of the Solidarity Ministry in Beheira, which denied Mubarak a subsidy under the premise that she may be entitled to one when married or when reaching 50 years old.
The revoked decision claimed she was not entitled to an independent pension, given that her name was added to her father’s pension of only 240 EGP ($27.00).
