CAIRO: Interpol will be requested to arrest 22 people, including former Health Ministry spokesperson Yehia Moussa, over the June 2015 assassination of Attorney-General Hesham Barakat, Youm7 reported Monday.
The Homeland Security prosecution has referred the case to the criminal court to fix a date for the first hearing at a tribunal specialized in terror cases. The case includes 67 defendants, 45 of them are detained.
The remaining 22 defendants have been put on Egypt’s travel ban list. The prosecution says Moussa, who resides in Turkey, is implicated in the high-profile assassination by providing funds and coordinating with Gaza-based Hamas to train the assassinators.
Three Al-Azhar University students have been expelled after they appeared in a televised recording produced by the police along with a graduate of the same school “admitting” to have executed the car bomb attack on June 29 last year.
