CAIRO: Preparatory grade three exam students in Dakahlia, North Cairo, were caught messaging exam questions to parents and friends during the examination, Youm7 reported Tuesday.
Shortly after the analytical geometry and trigonometry exams began, the students sent the questions to their parents and friends who then shared the answers with the students via Facebook and Whatsapp.
Two days ago the English test for preparatory grade three in the Dakahlia governorate was shared with parents as the exam was taking place. Some parents then sent their children the answers. Incidents like this usually occur in distant villages and remote centers in the governorate, said Youm7.
The undersecretary of the Education Ministry, Ali Abdel Raouf, told Youm7 that the ministry will confront cheating by launching a tour among the governorate schools to monitor the exams until they finish.
A total of 95,640 preparatory grade students are currently taking mid-term exams in 534 classrooms across the governorate, according to Youm7.
President Abdel Fatah al-Sisi issued a decree in October 2015, per which those who leak exams will face a year in prison as well as fines between 20,000-50,000 EGP.
During the past few years, examination papers for different grades have been leaked on social media as some students can sneak their mobile phones into the exam.
