CAIRO: A total of 138, 500 pills of Tramadol, a controlled substance, were found inside a car after it collided with a cement barrier in Hammam city, Marsa Matrouh, Youm7 reported Tuesday.
The driver of the car fled the scene immediately, according to Youm7.
The police were notified about the accident and after inspecting the car the Tramadol pills were found. The car and the drugs were confiscated and put under the control of the prosecution.
The Criminal Investigative Department has been assigned to investigate the incident and arrest the driver.
Drugs are occasionally seized at Cairo International Airport and at Egyptian ports.
On May 8, a Canadian passenger of Somali origin was busted at Cairo International Airport for possessing 200 bottles of Tramadol.
In April, Police seized 9 million pills of Tramadol in a container that transited in Port Said port en route to Libya.
