Al Ahly head for UAE for a friendly with AS Roma

CAIRO: Cairo giants Al Ahly SC will fly to the UAE on Wednesday for a friendly game against Italy’s AS Roma, scheduled for Friday May 20, Youm7 reported.

Al Ahly manger Martin Jol has announced the 23-man squad for the game, in which he excluded Ramadan Sobhi and Ahmed Hamdy who are scheduled to join the Egyptian national team squad in a game against Rwanda in the CAF U20 qualifiers on Saturday. Defender Hussein Al Sayed is also among the players excluded.

The Egyptian national team winger Mohamed Salah, who plays for AS Roma, will participate in the friendly game which will take place at the Hazza Bin Zayed Stadium in UAE’s Al-Ain city on Friday at 06:00 p.m. Cairo local time.

The two teams played a friendly in 2002 that ended 2-1 for Al Ahly before they lost 3-0 in another friendly in 2008 in Cairo.

Al Ahly is currently top of the Egyptian Premier League table on 65 points from 28 matches after a 2-0 win over Al Entag Al Harby on Tuesday.
