Egypt, Greece cooperate in search for EgyptAir plane wreckage in Mediterranean

CAIRO: The Egyptian armed forces have deployed search aircrafts and naval vessels to locate an EgyptAir flight that disappeared from radar over the Mediterranean Sea on Thursday morning, Youm7 reported.

Search efforts are being carried out in coordination with Greek authorities, a military source told Youm7 Thursday.

EgyptAir Flight 804 went missing from radar at 2:45 a.m. local time when it was flying at 37,000 feet, the airline said. It said the Airbus A320 vanished 10 miles (16 kilometers) after it entered Egyptian airspace, according to a statement from EgyptAir.

There were 66 people onboard the flight, including 10 crew members. EgyptAir later confirmed the nationalities of the passengers as 30 Egyptians, 15 French, two Iraqis and one passenger each from the U.K., Kuwait, Saudi Arabia, Sudan, Chad, Portugal, Algeria, Canada and Belgium.
