Egypt secures membership at OIC water council

CAIRO: Egypt has secured a two-year membership at the Organization of Islamic Cooperation (OIC) Water Council for two-year term, Al Ahram reported Friday.

The council’s election took place during the third Session of the Islamic Conference of Ministers responsible for Water held in Istanbul May 17-19 under the theme “From Vision to Action.”

The council comprises of 15 members of the OIC’s 57 Member States. During the conference meetings, implementation of the OIC Water Vision to enhance cooperation among the OIC member states on water-related issues has been discussed.

The Conference also adopted a resolution on enhance cooperation in water sector as well as Chair Summary of the third session.
