CAIRO: Seven armed people were killed in North Sinai over the past few hours, security sources told Youm7 in a Sunday report.
Security forces raided “the hideout of a terrorist” in south Rafah, where three were killed, including a wanted leading “terrorist,” the sources said.
The forces also raided “terrorist hideouts” south of al-Jurah and Berth town, as well as central Sinai. Initial reports indicate that four militants were killed and five others were injured.
Eleven “terrorist hubs” were destroyed, and 27 suspects were arrested in a police campaign to pursue wanted people. The areas of South Rafah, Berth, and Jurah have been surrounded with a “security fence” to achieve “marco-control,” the sources added.
Two explosive devices were also detonated along a route forces were travelling on. No casualties were reported the sources said.
On Saturday, a police officer and a conscript were killed after their armored vehicle struck a roadside bomb in Arish, Youm7 reported.
