CAIRO: Chief of Staff Mahmoud Hegazy has left for the U.S. upon an invitation by Chairman of the Joint Chiefs of Staff Joseph Dunford.
Hegazy, who is staying in the U.S. for several days, will discuss military cooperation with Dunford, according to a Monday statement by Egypt’s Defense Ministry.
In April, Hegazy received a Chinese military delegation headed by Admiral Sun Jianguo, Deputy Chief of Staff of the People’s Liberation Army. In December, he met with Japan’s Chief of Staff of the Joint Staff Office Katsutoshi Kawano, also to enhance military ties.
Hegazy visited France last November to discuss military cooperation.
