CAIRO: Six militants were killed during an ongoing security campaign in North Sinai in the past few hours, a security source told Youm7 Tuesday.
A total of 56 underground hideouts with full living necessities, including blankets, mattresses and clothes, were destroyed, as well as an underground field hospital, four motorcycles, and three four-wheel drive cars equipped with machine guns, the source said.
Three explosive devices planted along the route known to be taken by security forces were detected and remotely detonated; the raid was carried out south of Arish, Sheikh Zuwayed and Rafah, the source added.
A large number of takfiri (labeling other Muslims as infidels) books were found during the campaign, according to the source.
Military spokesperson Mohamed Samir said in a Monday statement that 13 “highly dangerous terrorists” were killed in gun battles with security forces and large amounts of bomb-making materials were seized.
