CAIRO: An American passenger was arrested Tuesday at Cairo International Airport for possessing a huge amount of silver coins and ornaments, Youm7 reported.
The passenger arrived on a Lufthansa flight from Munich, Germany. After collecting his luggage he was suspected by the customs department who then searched his bags.
The coins and ornaments were found inside his luggage and were then confiscated. The items will be submitted to the Egyptian Mint Authority for examination.
The customs department regularly confiscates items at airports and ports across the country. Egyptian and foreign passengers have been stopped over carrying artifacts, sex toys, drugs and large amounts of cash exceeding the limit allowed to be carried in and out of the country.
On May 8, a Canadian passenger of Somali origin was busted at Cairo International Airport for possessing 200 bottles of Tramadol which is a controlled substance, according to Youm7.
