CAIRO: A citizen from Upper Egypt’s governorate of Qena was caught carrying frozen ducks stuffed with drugs at Sohag Airport, Youm7 reported Wednesday.
Dark objects were seen on the monitor while his luggage was screened. After inspecting the bags, 2,400 tablets of Tramadol, a controlled substance, was found hidden inside frozen ducks.
During investigations, Hussein, 29, admitted he was planning to smuggle the drugs out of Egypt.
On April 20, Police seized some 9 million pills of Tramadol in a container that transited in Port Said en route to Libya, according to Youm7. On the same day, 11 kilograms of heroin were seized in the Red Sea’s Nuweiba Port in South Sinai, inside the air conditioner of a truck coming from Jordan.
Drugs are also occasionally seized at Cairo International Airport. In March, a passenger was taken into custody for smuggling Tramadol in the diapers of his two children who were travelling with him.
