Palestinian president in Cairo for talks with Sisi

CAIRO: Palestinian President Mahmoud Abbas will arrive in Cairo on Saturday for a visit during which he will meet with President Abdel Fatah al Sisi to discuss developments in the Palestinian territories, Youm7 reported.The visit comes following a French initiative to revive the Israeli-Palestinian peace process through hosting ministerial-level talks in the French capital on June 3.

The visit also coincides with the Arab League foreign ministers special session on the Palestinian-Israeli conflict scheduled for Saturday; Palestinian ambassador to Cairo Gamal al Shobky was quoted by state news agency MENA Friday.

During the meeting, Abbas is scheduled to meet with the Egyptian Foreign Minister Sameh Shoukry and the Arab League secretary general Nabil Al Araby, said Shobky.

Earlier this month, Sisi has called for a renewal of peace talks between Israel and Palestine.
