CAIRO: A Central Security Forces officer and a low-ranking policeman were killed in a “terrorist attack” in North Sinai Sunday, Youm7 reported.

The attack comes amid a military campaign to crack down on militants in the area. A total of 38 militants were killed in North Sinai in the past two days, according to a Saturday statement by military spokesperson Mohamed Samir.

Earlier this month, the military forces, in cooperation with police forces, have launched the third phase of “the Martyr’s Right” military operation against the terrorists in North Sinai’s cities of Arish and Sheikh Zuwayed.

On Friday, three police personnel and a civilian were injured after a roadside bomb detonated near an armored vehicle in Arish, Youm7 reported a medical official.
