CAIRO: Rigoletto opera, one of Italian Giuseppe Verdi’s masterpiece, will be performed at the Cairo Opera House Monday and Tuesday in the Main hall at 8:00 p.m.
A three-act opera will be performed by Cairo Opera’s Company, Orchestra, Ballet Company, and Choir; it will be conducted by David Crescenzi and directed by Abdullah Saad, announced the House in a statement.
In February 2016, the opera was staged in three executives evenings as the House, state-owned al-Ahram newspaper reported.
The opera was performed for the first time in Egypt during the inauguration of Cairo Opera House in 1869 by Khedive Ismail. Aida Opera had also been planned to be performed in the inauguration ceremony, but it was cancelled due to delay of arrival of its sets and customs from France, and Verdi’s Rigoletto was performed instead.
