CAIRO: The Egyptian classico between Cairo giants Al Ahly and Zamalek will be held on July 9 at Petrosport Stadium, the Egyptian Football Association announced in a statement on Wednesday.
The 111th Egyptian league edition of the Cairo derby will take place in the final week of the Egyptian Premier League, said the statement without verifying whether spectators will be allowed to attend the match.
Al Ahly currently top the league table on 68 points collected from 29 matches, five clear of second-placed Zamalek who played 30 matches.
Al Ahly and Zamalek were named by the Confederation of African Football (CAF) as the 1st and 2nd African Clubs of the 20th Century respectively.
Since the Egyptian Premier League was first created in 1948, Al Ahly won the title 37 times while Zamalek managed to win the title 12 times the last of which was 2014-2015 season.
