CAIRO: A total of 39 people were ordered detained Thursday for 15 days pending investigations in the case of raiding the Lawyers Syndicate in Dakahlia’s city of Talkha, Youm7 reported.
The defendants face charges of thuggery, carrying firearms and bladed weapons, and vandalizing public buildings.
The Lawyers Syndicate has tasked 11 lawyers with representing the syndicate in the case.
A group of people stormed the syndicate in Talkha, the Delta Monday, clashing with lawyers for more than two hours. The first and second floors were torched and 10 lawyers and two journalists were injured.
Some lawyers and journalists claimed the attack took place due to a disagreement between the syndicate and a company over the running of the building hosting the syndicate, after the latter cancelled its contract with the company.
