CAIRO: A memorandum of understanding between the Suez Canal Authority and the Port of Sydney in Canada will be signed soon to cooperate in the field of training, marketing and modern transport.

Egypt’s Ambassador to Canada Moataz Zahran visited Sydney in Nova Scotia, where he presented the project of the New Suez Canal and the plans to develop the axis of the canal, according to a Thursday statement by Egypt’s Foreign Ministry.

The Port of Sydney officials also presented to Zahran the developmental projects to make the port the biggest host of containerships arriving from East Asia to North America.

Egypt has set an ambitious plan to build an economic zone on the bank of the Suez Canal after it inaugurated the New Suez Canal to allow ships to cross in both directions of the waterway at the same time.
