CAIRO: A total of 34 Egyptian deportees arrived at Cairo International Airport from Saudi Arabia and Italy, an informed source at the airport told Youm7 in a Monday report.
Seven nationals arrived from Italy after Italian coastguards arrested them in an attempt to illegally enter its territory.
Meanwhile, 27 Egyptians arrived from Jeddah on a Saudi Airlines plane; they acknowledged upon arrival that they had been arrested by the Saudi authorities for violating the Kingdom’s residency and labor laws.
At least 96 Egyptians were deported from Italy in May under similar circumstances, while at least 30 were deported from Saudi Arabia in the same month.
In April, at least 111 Egyptians were deported from Saudi Arabia, while in March, at least 118 others were deported. The Egyptian Foreign Ministry has repeatedly warned citizens not to overstay their visas in Saudi Arabia or return to the kingdom illegally after deportation. Some deportees are arrested upon arrival after their security checks reveal they are wanted to serve prison terms.
