CAIRO: Cairo giants al Ahly clinched a tough 2-0 victory over Dakhlia in the 31st fixture of the Egyptian Premier League Thursday.
Gabonese striker Malick Evouna scored the two goals in the second half helping the Red Devils maintain on top of the league table with 8 points ahead of arch rivals Zamalek.
In the final minute of the first-half, Al Ahly’s Abullah Al Said was injured in his left shoulder after colliding with Dakhlia’s defender. The injury will keep Said off the field for 4 weeks, Al Ahly announced in a statement following the match.
Al Ahly currently top the league table on 71 points collected from 30 matches, eight clear of second-placed Zamalek which has played 30 matches.
Since the Egyptian Premier League was first created in 1948, Al Ahly has won the title 37 times while Zamalek has managed to secure 12 wins, the last of which was the 2014-2015 season.
