Egypt’s Trade Minister takes part in St. Petersburg economic forum

Trade and Industry Minister tarek Qabil headed to Russia Wednesday to participate in the International Economic Forum scheduled to be held in St. Petersburg on June 16-18, Youm7 reported.

Funds from 18 countries with assets of more than $10 trillion will attend, according to Russian Direct Investment Fund (RDIF) CEO Kirill Dmitriev.

Muslim Council of Elders condemns Orlando shooting

A council of high-profile Islamic clergymen has denounced “the terrorist attacks” at a gay club in Orlando, Florida that killed 50 people, Al Ahram reported.

“We completely rejected such hateful terrorist attack which contradict the docile teachings of Islam,” Grand Imam of Al Azhar Ahmed al-Tayeb, head of the council, said in a statement.

Parliament to review reports on budget for 2016-2017 fiscal year 

The General Committee at the House of Representative will convene Wednesday to review a report submitted by the Planning and Budget Committee on the draft of the general budget for the fiscal year 2016-2017, according to Youm7.

Headed by the parliament’s speaker, the General Committee is scheduled to put up the draft budget for discussion and voting later this month.

Egypt takes part in ICGLR in Angola

A delegation from Egypt’s foreign ministry headed for Angola to participate in the 6th Ordinary Summit of the International Conference on The Great Lakes Region (ICGLR,) Youm7 reported.

The delegation is headed by Assistant Foreign Minister for African Affairs Hamdy Loza. The summit is expected to assess and evaluate the political and security situation in the Great Lakes Region.

Prosecution resumes probe into former top auditor’s claims of gov. corruption

Egypt’s Supreme State Security Prosecution resumed investigations with Egypt’s former top auditor Hisham Genina over accusations of disrupting public peace and security through promoting false news about the size of corruption in government bodies, according to Youm7.

MPs meet with newly-appointed ambassadors of Latin American states to Cairo

The Foreign Relations Committee at the House of Representatives will meet with newly-appointed ambassadors of Latin American countries to Cairo.

Deputy Head of the committee MP Tarek Radwan said that the committee members and the new ambassadors will discuss the possibility to establish a joint Egyptian-Latin American parliamentary body.
