Black box of crashed EgyptAir jet found, pulled out of sea

The cockpit voice recorder of the ill-fated EgyptAir plane has been found and pulled out of the Mediterranean Sea, Egypt’s investigation committee announced in a statement Thursday.

The so-called black box has been damaged but that the vessel searching for the wreckage has managed to safely pull the “memory unit which is the most important in the recorder,” according to the statement.

Attorney general in Cyprus for talks on extradition of Egyptair jet hijacker

Attorney General Nabil Sadek headed to Cyprus on Tuesday to follow up on investigations carried out with Egyptian national Seif el Din Mostafa on charges of hijacking EgyptAir passenger flight in March, according to Youm7.

Sadek, who headed an Egyptian judicial delegation, will meet with Cypriot officials and discuss a possible extradition of Mostafa to Cairo.

Egypt’s Parliament to discuss EP’s visit to Egypt over killing of Regeni

Foreign Relations Committee at the Egyptian House of Representatives will discuss Thursday an expected visit by a delegation of the European Parliament to Egypt to investigate the killing of Italian researcher Guilio Regeni, who was found killed on Feb. 2 in Cairo.

Parliamentary Agriculture Committee chairperson deputy Raef Tamraz sent the Minister of Health a notification letter, complaining from the absence of doctors in a number of well-equipped clinics and medical units in Sharqia governorate, Youm7 reported.

Thanawya Amma chemistry, philosophy exams answers leaked

Answers to the Thanawya Amma chemistry and philosophy exams were posted on a Facebook page only 15 minutes after the exam had started on Thursday, Youm7 reported.

The answers were posted on “Shawming Byghashish Thanawya Amma” page known for leaking examination papers and answers.

Dozens of Egyptian inmates released as per Sisi’s pardon

Egypt’s prison authority pardoned 110 prisoners from completing the rest of their jail terms, Youm7 reported Thursday citing an Interior Ministry statement.

The authority also paroled 139.The amnesty is part presidential decree to pardon some convicts that was issued in March on the occasion of Sinai Liberation Day.

Masked men shot dead 2 policemen at home in Arish

Two policemen were shot dead at their home in Arish city, North Sinai after four masked men stormed their residence and opened fire at them, a media official at the Ministry of Interior told Youm7.

Egypt’s T-bill yields rise at auction on Thursday

At a Thursday auction, the average yield on the 182-day T-bill reached 13.965 percent, up from 13.895 percent at the last sale on June 9, while yield on the 357-day bill rose to 14.188 percent from 14.115 percent at an auction a week ago, said the Central Bank of Egypt.

Egypt stock market ends week in green

Egypt’s stock market rebounded on Thursday with its main index EXX30 rising 0.08 percent to register 7420.39 points.

EGX50 increased by 0.11 percent to register 1341.59 points, while EGX20 dipped 0.06 percent to register 7576.8 points.

Sisi ratifies deal between Egypt, EBRD to build electricity plant in Damietta

President Abdel Fatah al-Sisi ratified an agreement between Egypt and European Bank for Reconstruction and Development (EBRD), per which Cairo will take a loan to build an electricity power plant in coastal city of Damietta, according to the official newspaper al-Waqaei al-Rasmyia Thursday. The agreement has been signed between both sides on March 31, 2014.

A seminar will be held Thursday at 9 p.m. by the Supreme Council of Culture at the Coptic Museum in Cairo to discuss folkloric celebration in the Egyptian heritage.

1911 Rifaei Mosque’s carpets to be renovated

A temporary monument restoration lab was opened at the 1911 Refaei Mosque in Cairo to renovate the mosque’s carpets in the next few days; the decorations on the carpets are the same as the decorations on the ceiling of the place.

Elneny, Elmohamady face tough Premier League openers – Kingfut.com

The English Premier League fixtures for the 2016/17 season have been announced with exciting matches to be played in the league’s opening gameweek.

Arsenal and Hull City, where Mohamed Elneny and Ahmed Elmohamady play, respectively, were handed tough starts to their Premier League season, which is scheduled to kick off on August 13.

The opening weekend sees Arsenal, who finished the season in second place, host Liverpool with Jurgen Klopp looking to kickoff his season in fine form, and improve his side’s eighth-placed finish last season.

Elneny made 11 league appearances for the Gunners since joining them from Swiss side Basel during the January transfer window.

Elneny will face his compatriot Elmohamady in gameweek 5 when Hull City host Arsenal on September 17.
