Egypt receives 2 coffin lids, looted and brought to Israel during the 2011 uprising.

Egypt repatriated two ancient Egyptian sarcophagi lids, which were looted and brought to Israel during the 2011 uprising, the antiquities ministry announced Friday.

The two 3,000 year-old wooden lids were handed over to Egyptian officials at Cairo International Airport Thursday.

1st phase of Sphinx’s ‘Dream Stele’ restoration completed

The Antiquities Ministry announced Friday the completion of the first phase of restoration at the Dream Stele, located between the paws of the Sphinx.

Gharib Sonbol, the Head of the Central Administration for Preservation and Restoration at the ministry said the first phase included the cleaning and covering of the artifact which dates back to the reign of the 18th Dynasty Pharaoh Tuthmosis IV.

Cairo opera house organizes month-long workshops for children

Cairo Opera House will organize calligraphy, photography, painting and mosaic workshops for children starting from Saturday.

The opera house will organize an exhibit to display the work accomplished during the month-long workshops.

Mohamed Ali palace restoration kicks off 10 months after bombing

Antiquities Minister Khaled al Anany gave the go ahead for the restoration of the Mohamed Ali palace in Shubra el Kheima, according to Youm7.

The decision came almost a year after archaeological committee has been formed in August 2015 to determine the damages caused to the 1800s palace by the bombing that ripped through the opposite homeland security building.
