Thursday marks Egypt’s longest fasting hours in Ramadan
Hatem Ouda, the head of the National Institute for Astronomy and Geophysics, told Youm7 that Thursday will be the longest day of Ramadan fasting this year at 15 hours and 52 minutes. Ouda said that the total fasting hours of the holy month of Ramadan this year in Egypt will reach 475 hrs; Muslims abstain from food and drink from dawn to dusk during Ramadan.
Court resumes trial of press syndicate leaders Saturday
The Kasr el-Nil misdemeanor court is set to consider Saturday the second trial session of the head of the journalists syndicate Yehia Qallash, syndicate secretary Gamal Abdel Raheem and board member Khaled el-Balshy for harboring fugitives and spreading false news.
The media was banned from covering the first court session, which was adjourned per a request by the defense team in order to review the investigations with the alleged “wanted” two journalists, Amr Badr and Mahmoud el-Saqqa, whom the leaders are accused of hiding.
5 killed in separate traffic accidents across Egypt
At least four traffic accidents have taken place in different places across the country since Friday night. On Friday, a microbus flipped over in Wadi el-Gadid governorate killing one and injuring four others. Two people were killed in Delta’s Kafr el-Sheikh governorate after a motorbike and a car collided.
While early on Saturday, a collision between a truck and a car has taken place in Wadi el-Gadid governorate leaving a man killed and another injured. Another crash was reported between a car and a motorcycle on Damanhur-Shabrakheet Road in Lower Egypt, resulting in the death of man.

6 stopped at Luxor, Sohag airport for exceeding cash limits
Customs departments at Luxor and Sohag airports have thwarted at least six passengers for possessing extra cash, exceeding the limits allowed to be taken outside and inside the country, which determines maximum $10,000 or its equivalent in any other currency.
