Trial of press syndicate head, 2 board members adjourned to July 2

Qasr el Nil Misdemeanor Court adjourned to July 2 the trial of Journalists Syndicate head and two other board members on charges of harboring fugitives inside the syndicate’s headquarters.

Two Policemen along with syndicate security personnel are scheduled to testify during the July 2 session.

Cairo University launches free medical examinations of Hep C students

Cairo University has launched a campaign called “Cairo University completely free of Hepatitis C” in coordination with Pharmaceutical companies and civil society organizations.

President of the University, Gaber Nassar announced on his Facebook page that the university will “carry out free of charge medical examinations to students and faculty staff who contracted the virus, and provide them with health and psychological support.”

‘Shawmeng’ challenges gov’t, promises university exam leak 2017

‘Shawmeng helps Thanaweya Amma cheats’ Facebook, which is famous for leaking high school diploma exams for four years, has challenged government “failure” in curbing the page and promised it will begin leaking universities’ exams as of 2017, according to a post on the page.

Cairo Court considers trial of 213 accused of belonging to Ansar Bayt al-Maqdis
A Cairo Criminal Court will consider Saturday a trial of 213 people, allegedly accused of belonging to militant group of Sinai-based Ansar Bayt al-Maqdis that committed a total of 54 crimes against police personnel, and tried to assassinated former Minister of Interior Mohamed Ibrahim, Youm7 reported.

On Feb. 21, 2015, Egyptian General Prosecution imposed media gag on the investigations of the case, while the first session that has been held in March 5, 2015 allowed to be covered by only the authorized media.
Government calls Parliament to finalize draft law of municipality
Egypt’s government has called the House of Representatives to finalize a draft law of municipality, to be a step forward holding municipal elections nationwide at the end of this year, according to a statement from the cabinet Friday.

In April, President Abdel Fatah al-Sisi has called for carrying out municipal elections by the end of 2016, in light of “fighting corruptions.”

Egypt supports peaceful solution to South China Sea dispute: statement

The Egyptian political leadership is determined to support a peaceful solution for the South China Sea territorial conflict, Foreign Ministry spokesperson Ahmed Abu Zeid said in a statement Saturday.

Egypt supports the stance of a number of Arab nations concerning China’s position on the South China Sea issue, Abu Zaid said in an interview with Xinhua.

Egypt dispatches medical convoy to Eritrea

An Egyptian medical convoy has been dispatched to Eritrea to assist in conducting multiple surgical operations for those who are in need, the Foreign Ministry announced on Saturday.

The convoy, from the Egyptian Agency of Partnership for Development, includes 8 doctors in addition to various medical equipments.

Egypt-Russia trade exchange increases by 10% during Jan.-Apr., 2016: statement

The volume of trade exchange between Egypt and Russia increased by 9.8 percent in the first quarter of 2016 to reach $1.504 billion, Fedor A. Lukashin, Russian trade representative in Egypt was quoted by MENA Saturday.

Egypt’s exports to Russia include fruits, vegetables, pharmaceutical supplies and carpets, he added.

KFAED to finance power delivery to 26 Sinai localities
The Kuwait Fund for Arab Economic Development (KFAED) has agreed in principle to finance a project to deliver power lines and transformers to 26 localities in Sinai with initial cost of $12m (106.8 million EGP,) Youm7 quoted a source at the Ministry of International Cooperation.

The source said that the financing is part of the Kuwaiti fund’s package worth $900 million earmarked for Sinai development projects during the period from 2016 to 2019.

Dutch agriculture experts due in Cairo in July to discuss establishing 1,200 greenhouses

A Dutch delegation of agriculture experts will visit Egypt next month to study the establishment of a total of 1,200 greenhouses in an area of 42,000 acres, International Cooperation Minister Sahar Nasr was quoted by Youm7.

The statement came during her meeting with the Dutch Ambassador to Cairo Gerard Stiggs. During the meeting, both sides discussed ways to boost ties between the two countries.

Palestinian Yalalan group holds concert at Bibliotheca Alexandrina

The Palestinian embassy in Cairo and the Palestinian consulate in Alexandria have organized a musical concert by the Palestinian group Yalalan at Bibliotheca Alexandrina Friday evening. the concert came in light of celebration the holy Ramadan, the ninth month of the Islamic Calendar during which the Muslims worldwide fast from dawn to dust. the group has held another concert on Wednesday at Cairo Opera House, according to a statement from the embassy Saturday.
