Egypt’s parliament approves budget of FY 2016/2017

Egypt’s House of Representatives passed Wednesday the draft of state’s general budget of 2016/2017 fiscal year. The parliament also approved a total of 50 economic projects, Youm7 reported.

Cabinet approves expansion of military policing of public institution for 2 years

Egypt’s cabinet agreed Wednesday to extend mission of military forces cooperate with the security forces in policing and guarding the public institutions for two years, starting from October 28, 2016, Youm7 reported.

Egypt starts summer time on July 5

Egypt will apply the summer time staring from July 5 until the parliament cancels working the summer time, said Egyptian Minister of Legal Affairs and the House of Representatives Magdy al-Agaatti Wednesday.


Egypt’s Shoukry delivers Abbas a message from Sisi n peace talks

Egypt’s Foreign Minister Sameh Shoukry has visited Ramallah to deliver Palestinian President Mahmoud Abbas a message from Egyptian President Abdel Fatah al-Sisi, according to a statement from the Egyptian Foreign Ministry Wednesday. The message came in light of Egypt’s role to resume the stalled peace negotiation between the Palestinians and the Israelis, and to reach an agreement of two-state solution.

31 alleged Muslim Brotherhoods members sentenced to life, 13 others acquitted

A total of 31 people, allegedly belong to the banned group of the Muslim Brotherhood, have been sentenced to 25 years in jail over charges of inciting violence, possessing weapons, and committing riots in Minya al-Qamh city in al-Sharqia governorate, Youm7 reported. Meanwhile, 13 others were acquitted of the mentioned charges.

Egypt condemns Istanbul Ataturk airport attack

Egypt condemned Tuesday’s “terrorist attack” at Istanbul’s Ataturk international airport that has killed 36 people and injured more than 140.

Spokesperson for the Egyptian foreign ministry Ahmed Abu Zeid said in a statement that “Egypt stands by the Turkish people in this critical moment. He also expressed Egypt’s condolences to the victims of the families and wishes for a fast recovery for the injured.

EgyptAir cancels Wed. flights to Turkey over Istanbul airport attack

EgyptAir announced it had cancelled its two flights to Turkey on Wednesday following the suicide bomb attack that rocked Ataturk airport on Tuesday.

Flights 737 and 735 scheduled to depart Cairo International Airport at 09:50 and 14:20 respectively have been cancelled indefinitely, a statement from Egypt’s national carrier said on Tuesday.

Sisi to attend Laylat al-Qadr celebration

President Abdel Fatah al Sisi will attend the Wednesday celebration organized by the Religious Endowment Ministry to celebrate Laylat al-Qadr.

During the celebration, Sisi will address the nation and honor the winners in Egypt’s international Holy Quran competition.

Laylat al-Qadr is customary one of the odd nights of the last ten days of Ramadan month and according to Quran, it is better than 1000 months of worship.

Egypt opens Rafah border crossing to ease traveling ahead of Eid al Fitr holiday

The Egyptian authorities decided to open the Rafah border crossing on both sides on Wednesday Thursday to allow the movement of stranded Palestinians and Egyptians in addition to humanitarian cases, state TV reported Tuesday citing a presidential statement.

The decision came to ease the travel of Gaza residents ahead of Eid al Fitr holiday scheduled for Wednesday, according to the statement.

Civil Aviation Minister hails ICAO’s decision to remove Sinai from travel warning

Egypt’s Civil Aviation Minister Sherif Fathy has praised the International Civil Aviation Organization’s (ICAO) decision on Tuesday to lift the Sinai Peninsula from the Notice to Airmen (NOTAM) warnings worldwide.
