Egypt starts downloading data from MS804 cockpit voice recorder

Egypt’s Aircraft Accident Investigation Committee has started downloading data and information from the cockpit voice recorder of the MS804 that crashed on the Mediterranean in May, Civil Aviation source told Youm7 Tuesday.

The download process takes place at the Civil Aviation labs, the source added.The flight’s cockpit voice recorder was repaired in France last week after initial attempts to download information from it failed due to damage.

649 Prisoners pardoned ahead of Eid al Fitr

President Abdel Fatah al Sisi issued a decree on Tuesday to pardon 649 prisoners on the occasion of Eid al Fitr and the 64thanniversary of the 1952 Revolution, Youm7 reported.

Names are not available thus far but high-profile activists are most likely excluded from the list of those granted the pardon.

The decision is customary among Egypt presidents who pardon inmates national and religious holidays.

EgyptAir operates 189 flights to Red Sea resorts ahead of Eid al Fitr

EgyptAir will operate a total of 189 flights from Cairo to the Red Sea resorts of Hurghada and Sharm al Sheikh during the three day long Eid al Fitr holiday, Youm7 reported.

EgyptAir and EgyptAir Express started the operation of 105 flights to Sharm al Sheikh and 84 flights to Hurghada over the course of the next three days, Safwat Musslam, head of EgyptAir Holding Company told Youm7.

Eid al Fitr will start on Wednesday. Prime Minister Sherif Ismail announced the Eid al Fitr holiday starts from Tuesday for three days.

Army kills 19 militants in air raid in Sinai

A total of 19 militants were killed in “successful pre-emptive air strikes” against terrorist elements in North Sinai, security source told Youm7 Tuesday.

The raids were carried out by troops from the third field army in North Sinai’s cities of Rafah, Sheikh Zuwayed and Aris. The troops were able to neutralize or destroy 30 improvised explosive devices (IEDs) that were planted to target moving units northwest of Mount Halal, according to the source
