18-year-old girl tied up for one year by father, step-mother in Upper Egypt

Security forces in Upper Egypt’s Sohag have found a 18-year-old girl was tortured and chained for a year by her father and step-mother, Youm7 reported.

Torture signs covered Kareema’s neck and hands because she was tied up by an iron chain for a year to extent that her neck skin start to decay.

Her step-mother has confessed that her husband ordered to chain the girl to prevent her to escape.

 

3 people killed after falling into manhole in Menoufia

Three people were killed after falling into an uncovered manhole in a village in Menoufia governorate, Youm7 reported Friday evening.

According to the initial investigations, one of the killed persons has fallen into the manhole and when other two people tried to save him; all of them stuck and died due to the delay of arriving the civil protection forces.

A number of the village residents staged a protest, calling for holding those who are responsible accountable.

On July 20, three people were killed and 13 others were injured after falling to a manhole that swallowed a child in al-Fayrouz village of Nile Delta’s Kafr el-Sheikh.

 

Removing subsidy on electricity may be applied in December: official

Ministry of Electricity studies postponing applying the government’s plan of removing the subsidy on electricity during summer month, Youm7 reported an official from the Ministry, adding that the decision will come into force in December.

It involves a complete lifting of subsidies on electricity rates by gradually raising the prices of electricity consumption within a period of seven-ten years to curb the growing state budget deficit.

The government plans to reduce the electricity subsidy bill by 6.4 percent to reach 29 billion EGP in 2016/17 fiscal year, Finance Minister Amr eL Garhy announced in May.

 

Security forces raid 130 high crime places nationwide in one month

Security forces raided a total of 130 places have high crime rate nationwide over a month, according to a statement from the Ministry of Interior.

They arrested on dozens of drug dealers, while the number of drug dealing cases reported during this period reached 7,446 cases, the statement added.

 

6,303 people killed, 19,325 others injured in road accidents over one year: CAPMAS

A total of 6,303 people were killed and 19,325 others were injured in a total of 14,548 road accidents over one year, Youm7 cited a reported from the Central Agency for Public Mobilization and Statistics (CAPMAS) Saturday.

 

Cairo sees highs of 35°C Saturday

Egyptian coastal parts are expected to see a fair weather on Saturday, while it will be moderate in Cairo with the temperature reaching highs of 35°C and lows of 25°C, to be gradually turning hot over Upper Egypt governorates, Youm7 quoted forecasters.
