Al Ahly cruise past Smouha to reach Egypt Cup semi-final

A goal from defender Saad Samir took Al Ahly into Egypt Cup semi-final after a 1-0 victory over Smouha in the quarter-final on Monday, Kingfut reported.

The Red Devils will face ENPPI in the semi-final on Thursday.


Basketball: Egypt settle for silver at Africa U18 Championship

Egypt settled for a silver medal at the FIBA Africa U18 Championship held in Kigali, Rwanda after losing 82-86 to Angola in the final on Sunday, according to Kingfut.

The Angolan side finished the first quarter with a 25-16 lead, before the Egyptians reduced the deficit to 41-40 at half time.

The Egyptians led by three points in the third quarter while the fourth quarter tied at 77, which forced a five-minute extra-time to determine the winner.


Degla sign Youssef Obama & Ibrahim Abdel-Khalek on loan

Zamalek striker Youssef Ibrahim ‘Obama’ and midfielder Ibrahim Abdel-Khalek join Wadi Degla from the White Castle on a season-long loan.

Despite just returning from his loan spell at Ittihad of Alexandria, Zamalek decided to send Obama on loan at Degla. The 21-year-old impressed during his stint at the Alexandria-based club, scoring seven goals in 31 games to become the club’s top scorer.

Obama, a product of Zamalek’s youth team, was promoted to the first team in 2014 by then club manager Ahmed Hossam Mido.

Abdel-Khalek, 30, will also be joining Obama at Degla. The midfielder joined the White Castle from Smouha on a three-year deal during the 2015 summer transfer window and had helped Zamalek win the 2015 Egypt Cup.
