Egypt’s 3 Coptic denominations agree on building churches draft bill: minister
Leaders of Egypt’s Orthodox, Catholic and Evangelical churches have agreed on the final draft of the long-awaited church construction and restoration law, Youm7 quoted Legal and Parliamentary Affairs Minister Magdy al-Agaty as saying in a press statement on Tuesday.
The draft law, which includes seven articles, will be delivered to the Cabinet for discussion and then submitted to the State Council and to parliament for final approval, said Agaty.
Egypt’s EAPD offers cardiac catheterization device to Ethiopia
The Egyptian Agency of Partnership for Development (EAPD) has offered cardiac catheterization device to Ethiopia’s largest general hospital during a celebration on Monday, the foreign ministry said in a statement.
The celebration was attended by EAPD Secretary General Hazem Fahmy, international cardiothoracic surgeon Dr Magdy Yacoub and the Egyptian Ambassador to Addis Ababa Abu Bakr Hanfy.
The device was delivered to the Black Lion Hospital where an Egyptian intensive care unit for cardiac surgery was inaugurated in 2014.
Dr. Yacoub and his medical team will examine patients and perform surgeries on a number of Ethiopian patients.
EgyptAir says pilgrimage tickets to Saudi Arabia available as of Sat.
EgyptAir announced in a statement it will start selling tickets for those who wish to perform pilgrimage in Saudi Arabia as of Saturday, Youm7 reported.
The tickets will be sold in three Cairo branches of Egypt’s national carrier; Shobra, Abassiya and Agoza, according to Sherif Ezzat, EgyptAir Airlines Chairman.
Starting from August 20, the company will organize a total of 297 flights from Egypt to Saudi Arabia’s cities of Jeddah and Medina during the pilgrimage season, he added.
Hot weather to prevail throughout Egypt on Tuesday
Hot and humid weather is to prevail Tuesday in Cairo and Lower Egypt, where the capital will see highs of 35°C, according to a statement from the Egyptian Meteorological Authority.
Moderate weather is expected along the north coast, with highs of 31 degrees in Alexandria, while the Upper Egyptian governorates will see warmer weather with 41 degrees in Qena, 42 in Luxor and 43 in Aswan.
85 vessels transit Suez Canal in past two days: SCA head
A total of 85 vessels carrying 4.9 million tons of cargo have transited the Suez Canal on Sunday and Monday, Youm7 reported citing a statement issued by the Suez Canal Authority.
A total of 48 vessels carrying 2.9 million tons of cargo transited the canal through the south-bound convoy while the north-bound convoy included 37 vessels carrying 2 million tons, according to the statement.
Egypt’s revenues from the Suez Canal increased by 0.6 percent to reach $882.4 million during the first quarter of 2016, compared to $876.7 million during the same period last year, the Egyptian Information and Decision Support Center (IDSC) announced in a statement last month.
