Sisi performs Eid Al Adha prayer in New Cairo
President Abdel Fatah al-Sisi performed Eid Al Adha (Sacrifice Feast) prayer at El-Mosheer Tantawy Mosque in New Cairo Monday morning, Youm7 reported.
The prayer was also performed by senior state officials, Al Azhar Grand Imam Dr. Ahmed Al-Tayeb, Prime Minister Sherif Ismail, House of Representatives Speakers Ali Abdel Aal, Chief of Staff of the Armed Forces Mahmoud Hijazi.
President Abdel Fatah al Sisi on Sunday congratulated Egyptian people on the occasion of Eid al Adha.
“In this spiritual day, when Muslims from all over the world gather for the sake of approving the right teachings of Islam, I would like to extend my very best wishes for the Egyptian people,” Sisi said in his facebook page.
700 pardoned inmates walk out of jail in 1st day of Eid al Adha
A total of 700 prisoners, whom were recently pardoned per a presidential decree, walked out of jail to spend Eid al Adha festivals with their families nationwide Monday, Youm7 reported.
President Abdel Fatah al Sisi issued a decree pardoning 600 detainees to mark the occasions of Eid Al Adha and the 6 October War, Youm7 reported on Saturday.
Those eligible for pardon must not have “dangerous to public safety,” according to the decree,
Egyptian presidents have traditionally pardoned groups of prisoners on national and religious holidays.
Investigations committees formed to probe into new 4 wheat corruption cases
Egyptian General Department of Public Funds Crime Investigation Police has ordered to form four committees to investigate into new corruption cases at wheat silos, Youm7 reported Monday.
Investigations into subsidized wheat corruption have been in full swing over the past weeks, under which many officials and silo owners have been arrested.
Egypt’s House of Representatives receives initiations to visit parliaments of 5 Arab countries
Arab Affairs Committee of the House of Representatives have received invitations to visit parliaments of five Arab countries (Saudi Arabia, United Arab of Emirates, Kuwait, Morocco, and Algeria), Youm7 reported the committee chairperson deputy Monday. The visits aim to tackle ways of reviving the Egyptian tourism.
Chairperson of Copts 38 Association resigns from Salafi party
Chairperson of Copts 38 Association Nader al-Serafi has resigned from the legal committee of the Islamic Sunni and Salafi political party al Nour, he told Youm7 Monday.
Serafi added that he sent his resignation letter via mail past week, without mentioning the reasons behind his resignation.
Serafi has joined the party during the parliamentarian elections, which took place in October and November 2015; each political party runs for parliamentarian election should has a Coptic Christian candidate per the Egyptian election laws.
