Egypt’s tourism police closes night clubs, alcoholic beverage stores in Eid al Adha
Night clubs and alcoholic beverage stores will be closed during all four-day Eid al Adha (Sacrifice Feast) festivals nationwide, starting from Monday, Youm7 reported an official at the Egyptian Tourism police Monday.
The decision came in light of the police’s regulations concerning the closure of alcoholic beverage stores during Islamic occasions every year, he added.
3 killed, 3 injured in a quarrel between two families over ‘dirtying a mosque’
Three people were killed and three others were injured in a clash erupted between two families over dispute dirtying a mosque few hours before the celebration of Eid al Adha in a village of Delta’s Kafr el Sheikh governorate, Youm7 reported.
The incident took place when Hosni Abdo Bragheet, who was cleaning the mosque, asked another man called Ayman Abdel Basset Al Zeweiky to not dirty the mosque with the latter’s shoes after abolition; however, Zeweiky rejected Bragheet’s remarks and beat him, according to the initial investigations.
A quarrel broke out between the two men; the matter escalated when a group of Zeweiky’s family headed to Bragheet’s house and attacked his relatives, leaving Bragheet and two others killed.
The security forces have arrested seven people from the Zeweikys, who are now under investigations.
1,848 Egyptian and Libyan crossed Sallum border crossing in past 24 hours
A total of 1,848 Egyptian and Libyan citizens have returned home and travelled from and to Libya via the Sallum border crossing over the past 24 hours, Masra Matrouh Security Chief Deputy Mukhtar al-Senbari told Youm7 Monday.
Since the mass murder of 20 Egyptian Coptic Christians by the Islamic State (IS) group in Libya on Feb. 16, Egypt has tightened security measures along its western borders with Libya, which has witnessed a security lapse and political turmoil since the 2011 uprising.
At least 1 million Egyptians have fled Libya in the wake of 2011 turmoil; the country was one of the biggest destinations for Egyptian laborers. Many Egyptians, particularly from Upper Egypt, still make the trek to the unstable country looking for work.
